Madrid is the capital of Spain and is located almost in the
dead centre of the Iberian peninsula. It is the highest European capital,
sitting some 646 metres (roughly 2,200 feet) above sea level and has a
population of over three million. Madrid is a fairly cosmopolitan city but
still retains a very Spanish outlook on life. It is characterised by
intense cultural and artistic activity and a very lively nightlife or more
than often lively early morning life. The Spanish have a verb for it:
¡°madrugar¡± - to stay out partying all night and get home at 7 or 8 next
morning.
Madrid is certainly the place to immerse yourself in
Spanish culture as there is plenty of intellectual stimulation available
at some of the best museums in Europe. If you want to sharpen your Spanish
skills then it is the place as not many Madrile?os speak English. Being,
the capital and the business and financial center, it is the best place to
find Teach English Madrid or Abroad Jobs. Through your TEFL Courses Madrid
Certification you can also get the same.
Discover hidden parks,
small shops where artisans make and sell their wares or colourful
decorations on walls in the old neighborhoods of La Latina, Lavapies and
Rastro. In these areas you can: see Madrid¡¯s original architecture, have a
drink and something to eat in typical bars, meet ordinary Madrile?os,
visit covered permanent markets selling mostly fresh fruit, vegetables,
meat, fish and such. Probably the best attraction of Latina is to just
stroll around, letting the neighbourhood get at you. Just walking the
narrow streets and alleys, go with the flow, as if you were a boat on a
river, always being pushed forward by the current. In Lavapi¨¦s, you can
have a kebab out on the street, listen to the drummers in the square or
simply have a beer at some bar where the furniture seems to have
been collected from people's living rooms. Aside from the ethnic and
original Madrid ambience that Rastro shares with Lavapies and La Latina,
Rastro is home to El Rastro, the biggest and most varied open market in
Madrid. The Rastro is a famous flea market that opens on Saturdays and
Sundays between the Plaza de Cascorro, La Latina and the street of
Embajadores. Everything imaginable can be found here from valuable
antiques to used clothing, including collector cards, books, records,
paintings, etc. The side streets also teem with bars and cafes where you
can take refuge after a hard day¡¯s shopping.
And finally, a word
about Madrid¡¯s nightlife, if you are finished and ready to go home at 4
a.m., you¡¯ll probably be the first one to bed. According to the Madrid
tourist board a good night out ends at around 7 a.m. after visiting at
least 5 different night spots. Madrid has some of the best all-night
entertainment in all Spain and you¡¯ll never be stuck for somewhere to go
at just about any hour of the day.
With all this to offer, Madrid
is a great place to have fun. History and character, artists and theatre,
a great nightlife and best place to obtain a Teach English Madrid Jobs
through TEFL Courses Madrid.
